Sylhet Metropolitan Awami League Organizing Secretary Dr. Arman Ahmad Shiplur Indran General Secretary of 1st Borni Union Zuber Hossain and Awami League General Secretary of 1st Borni Union Ward 2 ended the Awami League rally at Monarai village of Baralekha Upazila of Moulvibazar due to previous enmity at the house of Chhatradal leader Mohammad Tanvir Hossain. Under the joint leadership of Morshedur Rahman, the leaders and activists of Awami League, Chhatra League and Jubo League started the fire. Chhatradal leader Mohammad Tanvir Hossain’s house was burnt to ashes. Around 9 lac of Taka have been lost in house furniture and goods burnt. This incident happened on August 15, 2023 around 4:30 pm.

According to eyewitnesses, at 4:30 pm in Monarai village of Baralekha upazila, Awami League, Chhatra League and Jubo League activists set fire to Mohammad Tanvir Hossain’s house due to previous enmity and violence. At that time, when the people screamed, the people around came running, with their help, we were able to control the fire, but by that time, many valuable things including household goods were burnt to ashes. There was a loss of about 9 lac rupees along with the valuables in the house.

A neighbor of Mohammad Tanvir Hossain said that a group of their terrorist forces led by Juber Hossain and Morshedur Rahman set fire to my house yesterday afternoon. Mohammad Tanvir Hossain’s house was searched and he was not found and set the house on fire. Their houses were burnt to ashes.

The local UP chairman disclosed the truth of the incident and said, I went to the spot after getting the information and advised them to take legal assistance through the police station.
